FREE Medications at Publix!

Upon returning from three months in South America, we learned that our Little Man had developed a sinus infection. We were awaiting new insurance cards, so I hesitated to fill the prescription for antibiotics. I really wanted to avoid the hassle of paying out of pocket and then trying to file, etc.

And then I remembered: Publix offers some medications FREE!

Yet another reason to love 'em!

Those who live in the southeastern United States* and are expecting a baby (or already have one who is under two years old), are eligible to join the Publix Baby Club! I’ve been doing a 19-mile loop most Monday evenings, visiting three stores – in order to get Penny Items! Last night, two cashiers double-checked to make sure my purchases totaled $10 before coupons – not including the Penny Item. That's a change; most stores used to include the Penny Item in the $10.

Local readers: Just for fun, I often compare by filling a banana box for/from the Sav Mor Sidewalk Sale with the week’s Publix deals. Hurrah for Publix – and printable coupons!

The grand total out of pocket for all this was only $5.67!

Publix Super Savers – 09/29/09

I haven’t posted Publix Super Savers in a while, and I haven’t taken a picture of deals snagged in even longer. But this week I couldn’t resist doing both. The deals are that exciting!

After being out of town for almost two weeks, we started an “Eat from the Pantry Challenge” this past weekend, with an added challenge of spending only $10 this week on groceries. (The jury is still out on whether or not milk should be included in the $10.) So, I was overjoyed when the purchases from two Publix locations visited yesterday reached a grand total of only $10.13!


According to my receipts, I saved $21.76 at one store and $13.22 at the other! Of course, I “never” pay the “regular” price, so that number is not an accurate reflection… At any rate, real savings were realized yesterday. And the deals (with the exception of the Penny Item) are valid through today!
